  • I'm not in the best physical condition, will this program be suitable?
    Absolutely! Our lessons are tailored to different fitness levels, gradually expanding your comfort zone.
  • Is it safe?
    Taekwondo is generally safe, but like any physical activity, there's some risk. Our trained coaches work hard to create a safe environment, minimizing the chance of injuries.
  • What's the minimum age?
    While we suggest a minimum age of 4, if your 3-year-old can understand and follow instructions, they're welcome too!
  • I'm interested, but the location is far away. What can I do?
    We can arrange sessions at your location for your convenience, combining on-site and home-based training as needed.
  • What's the schedule like?
    We offer flexible scheduling on weekends to accommodate your family's availability. You pick your preferred day and time, for example Sundays from 2-3 pm.
  • Is Taekwondo very competitive?
    Taekwondo can be as competitive as you want it to be. It’s perfect for achieving fitness and discipline; however, those interested in competitions can pursue that path as well.
  • If I have prior experience in Taekwondo, can I continue from where I left off?
    Yes, let's discuss where you stopped and how we can integrate your previous experience into our sessions.
  • My child has learning difficulties; can they participate?
    While our coaches may not specialise in dealing with learning difficulties, we're happy to work with your family to accommodate your needs.
  • What is my child's belt level?
    Kindly refer to the latest belt and/or certificate that your child received. If your child is wearing a Yellow Belt, kindly register them for the Yellow Belt Grading.
  • What if I want to attend the Grading but I am unable to make it during the appointed date/time?
    Kindly drop a message via WhatsApp to Coach Mike @ +65 8383 0327 and we will try to assist you based on your situation.
  • My child is Green Belt now. Do I register them for the Green Belt Grading or the Blue Tip Grading?
    Kindly register your child for the belt that they are wearing. For example, if your child is Green Belt, register them for the Green Belt Grading. If/Once they pass their Green Belt Grading, they will be promoted and receive the Blue Tip Belt.
  • How to know if my child is ready for Grading?
    Coaches will be conducting the Mock Grading for the students 2 weeks before the Grading day. Kindly wait for the Mock Grading results to be posted in the class WhatsApp group and avoid texting the coaches to ask if your child is ready.
  • What if I don't want to go for this grading?
    Gradings are optional and students can choose to skip the upcoming Grading. They may attend the next Grading once they are ready to do so. Gradings are held once every 3 months.
  • What are the different belt colours in Taekwondo? (Belt Progression)
  • Will there still be lessons during the holidays?
    Lessons will continue as per usual during the school holidays. However, there will no lessons if it coincides with a Public Holiday (e.g. National Day, Christmas Day etc.).
  • What if my child learn Taekwondo with another club before?
    Your child can continue from their previous belt level but they will have to obtain the Grading Card from their previous club.
  • What to wear/bring for the free trial class?
    Ensure that your child is in sports attire and bring along a water bottle.
  • What happens to the lesson if it rains?
    Depending on the location (sheltered vs unsheltered) and severity of the bad weather, lessons may or may not be cancelled. The coaches will update everyone accordingly in the class WhatsApp group. There will be no charges for cancelled lessons. Raining Before Lesson: Lessons will resume as per normal if it is just raining slightly. If there is no shelter at the usual class location, coaches will update the alternative location in the class WhatsApp group in advance. Raining Halfway During Lesson (for unsheltered location only): Coaches will move the students to the nearest sheltered location and update the class WhatsApp group accordingly.
  • Is it safe for my child to learn Taekwondo?
    Yes, Taekwondo is very suitable for kids due to its flexible and adaptable methodologies, meaning that it will not unnecessarily force and strain your children, but will rather train them slowly so that they enjoy the training sessions. In addition to safety being our top priority, all our coaches are also First Aid with CPR+AED certified. Of course, there are always risks associated when participating in any sports like soccer, basketball, or cycling. However, serious accidents are an extremely rare occurrence in martial arts.
  • Where can I order the Taekwondo uniform?
    You may order the Taekwondo uniform via https://form.jotform.com/220395011408446. Singapore Taekwondo Federation regulations require students to only wear "approved" uniforms during trainings, events, and exams. Should you choose to purchase the uniform on your own, ensure that it is of an "approved" brand. The following brands have been approved by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF): 1. Kwon 2. Mooto 3.Adidas 4. Daedo 5. JCalicu 6. Wacoku 7. Victory (Mudoin)
  • How long does it take to achieve the Black Belt?
    On average, it usually takes 3-4 years for a student to achieve their first Black Belt (1st Dan).
  • Is there a test that students must attend?
    Yes, students will be required to go for the Promotion Tests known as "Gradings". Gradings are held quarterly (every 3 months) by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation. Gradings are used to gauge the student's progression in the sport and provide them with the opportunity to achieve a higher belt level. Students will be required to perform their Poomsae (pattern), a Technique Demonstration (kicking) and complete rounds of Kyorugi (sparring) with another student (for Green Belts & above only). Note: Gradings are optional to attend. Students will only be required to go for Gradings if they want/are ready to obtain the next belt level.
  • How do I sign up for a free trial lesson?
    Step 1: Locate a suitable location for the class using our class locator. Step 2: Request a free trial lesson via WhatsApp. Step 3: Participate in the free trial lesson to determine if the class is suitable for your child. Step 4: If your child is interested in our classes, please WhatsApp our administrator for the class fee payment and uniform order link.
  • How much do the classes cost after the free trial lesson?
    Pricing may vary slightly depending on the venue booking fees our club pays. Lessons cost between $50 to $60 per month (4 lessons). For classes under the People's Association, fees are collected on a two-month basis instead of monthly. Kindly note that there is a one-time registration fee of $85 upon joining, which includes the Taekwondo uniform, belt, grading card registration fee and insurance that covers injury during lessons.
  • What should I bring for the free trial lesson?
     Just be in any sports attire and bring along a water bottle.
  • After the free trial lesson, am I obligated to join the class?
    There are no obligations, nor will there be any hard selling to join the classes. You are free to determine if the class is suitable for your child.
  • What are the coaches qualifications?
    Our coaches are certified under the Singapore Coach Excellence (SG-Coach) Programme & an affiliate of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation.
  • Do you have separate classes for the different age groups?
    In almost every class, there are children of different ages. It will be the coach's responsibility to manage the class according to the number of students in attendance.
  • How do I know if I am getting authentic training?
    Momentum Taekwondo is an affiliate of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation. Our lesson plans are based on the Singapore Taekwondo Federation & World Taekwondo (Kukkiwon) syllabus.
  • What will the students learn during lessons?
    Students can expect to learn Taekwondo patterns (Poomsae), fitness training, sparring (kyorugi), and self-defence techniques.
  • Is there a minimum age to join?
    Our classes are for kids aged 4 years and up. If your kid is below 4 years old, just inform us their birth year and we'll send you a message when they're old enough.
